Travel Instructions

How to get to Finland

By plane

The closest airport is Turku airport (airport code TKU). This is only a small airport and is only serviced by Finnair, airBaltic, SAS and Wizz Air. It is possible to take a connecting flight to Turku from Helsinki but we recommend using a bus instead because the Turku airport is much farther away from the site than the closest bus stop. If you fly directly to Turku we can organize a pick up from there for a small fee. Please reserve your pick up one month before the event.

The easiest way is to fly to Helsinki airport (airport code HEL). This is serviced by many major airlines. After landing it’s easy to catch a bus just outside the terminal and continue with it to the bus stop closest to the site.

By ferry

It is possible to catch a ferry from Stockholm to either Helsinki or Turku. Turku harbour is the closest one to the site about 1 hour drive from the site. Please see Viking Line in Swedish / in English or Tallink Silja for timetables.

There is also a ferry from Travemünde in Germany to Helsinki. See Finnlines for details.

How to get to the site

By bus from Helsinki airport

Please observe that Friday 6th of January is a public holiday and Sunday timetables will be in use. You can find bus timetables for long distance buses from Matkahuolto. The site also works in English. The bus stop where you want to get off is: Paimio motorway junction 11 (Paimio) (link to a map below). This is the closest bus stop to the site. Please note that you will usually have to transfer from the airport bus to the bus that goes to Turku. The driver will announce this and will help you with your luggage if needed. The transfer is done on a motorway bus stop and there is usually only one other bus there making the transfer quite easy.

When you get off the bus in Paimio you will need to cross over the bridge to get across the motorway. Walk to the Paimio Neste gas station and wait inside for your ride. You will need to walk for about 500 meters. When you depart from the same place towards Helsinki please observe that the bus stop is on the same side of the motorway as the gas station (link to a map below).

The gas station is open until 11 PM on Friday. If you arrive later than that we will do our best to pick you up as soon as your bus arrives so you don’t need to wait outside for long. The pick up point will be outside the gas station after the gas station is closed for the night. We recommend you wear warm clothes and good shoes as the winter weather can be quite cold here in Finland in January and there can be snow on the ground.

A small fee will be charged for the pick up and you will need to reserve it one month before the event.

By train

The closest train stations are in Turku and in Salo. There is no pick up service available from there so you will need to take a taxi. The ride to the site will take between 45 and 60 minutes. Please note that taxis in Finland are quite expensive.
